WINTER WATERING

The weather has finally cooperated enough this week that we are able to get out and water our turf.  What started out being a great winter in early November has become fairly maddening.  The cold temperatures have not allowed us to rehydrate the soils on a regular schedule.

When Ballyneal was built we installed a winter watering system that allows us to water the entire course with hoses or impact sprinklers during the winter season.  It was a smart move due to the fact that in the last 5 winters we have had to fully charge and use this system numerous times in 4 of them.  Without this system, winter desiccation from the winds and lack of moisture would be serious. 

I know at Ballyneal we are definately ready to start mowing some grass.
